Production Manager – Operations Edson Gibson, has been an employee of the Nation for just over 17 years, the last seven of which have been in his current post. Over the years, Mr. Gibson has worked his way up the corporate ladder, with his main area of expertise lying in the Nation’s Press Room, first as Press Operator, Shift Leader and then Manager.
In his capacity of Production Manager – Operations, Mr. Gibson is responsible for ensuring that there is an adequate staff complement in the Press Room. He has overall responsibility for the press equipment and staff, including training of new staff, ensuring that the quality of printed products are of a high standard and generally ensuring safe and smooth operations within the Press Room.
His technical qualifications include both local and international training in newspaper production. In addition, he has also taken the Advanced Press Operation course incorporating maintenance (operative and mechanical), which was done at the Newspaper Research Centre in Oklahoma. He also worked with the Production Department at the USA Today print site in Fort Lauderdale and similarly worked with the Trinidad Express.
